In the eyes of a nerd...

Weekends, right back to what they should be.

When I was a swinging single lady, life was not at all bad, in fact, it was kind of a silent bliss.

Weekdays was more or less preoccupied with work and tuition, with occasional dinner with friends.

Weekends, more aptly, weekend nights, were mostly packed.

While girls like Buttercup hook a 'date' with their Korean hunks in dramas, my night reservations were purely for eleven men in red, whether I would be gushing over my favourite three or cursing and swearing at the whole team.

Even when DH came into the picture, although he took a little (not that much actually) higher priority over Fernando, Steven and Xabi, at times I made him compromise to watching his rival team together with me at Simpang Bedok.

The departure of DH to work in KL did not exactly come at the right time.

It was right when the Premier League ended.

Both my weekend dosage of Liverpool and the beloved were like luxury items, with me watching replays on those weekend nights that DH was not returning home.

My luck was that this year, it was the Euro at least. And thankfully, my hearthrob scored the winning Euro goal in addition to that.

Next year, I would be hopeful for other forms of distractions, in whatever form they would come in. Anything to help me tide over the drought of football.

Thankfully, for now, the season is starting soon.

I had just finished watching Glasgow Rangers vs Liverpool, while video-conferencing with DH (I try to balance both in my life, its tough, but its doable definitely as I had demonstrated :p).

I look forward to this new season. Really really relinquishing the challenge of the title.

The pre-season match against the Rangers has proven that the team is all gelled up, unlike other seasons.

Rafa has shown that he now knows the exact style of what Liverpool should be and the players he had gotten through the transfer window are what that can be to just add to the reliability of the formation, since last season showed how vulnerable Pool was in some components.

Technically, they are still lacking of a right winger now, since Pennant was some sort of the weak link there and he has not exactly performed to his best ability since his arrival at Anfield.

But the current team is now better.

With the addition of Robbie Keane, he demonstrated how much of a threat he possessed just now with his partnership with the league's star striker, Torres.

He hasn't scored any goal, but he's tough.

Liverpool is undoubtedly, stronger than the previous season. By which I hope that they really would be serious contenders for this season's title.

18 YEARS!!!!!!!!!

Even the second team, led by Xabi Alonso (thankfully and hopefully, he really isn't going to Juventus, Barry is NOT better than him!!!), was rock-solid in midfield, with Alonso possessing leadership, professionalism and strength in keeping and passing the ball. He was afterall, arguably the best passer in the league, with beautiful own-half strikes, one against Luton Town that made a fan rich with a betting gone right.

This will be my weekends. Back to "singlehood" by which one weekend every month would be reserved for the man himself on his coming-home days.

That makes it 3 other weekends on Liverpool.

Talk about prioritising. :p

But yes, weekends, right back to what they should be. Full of soccer.

For now, let's sing to The Kop's Torres chant!

His armband proved he was a Red,
Torres, Torres
You'll never walk alone, it said,
Torres, Torres,
We bought the lad from sunny Spain,
He gets the ball, he scores again,
Fernando Torres, Liverpool's number nine

Na na na na na na na na na na na na

Na na na na na na na na na na na na
Na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na
Fernando Torres, Liverpool's number nine
